- We are a community of friends in the Lord of about 100 women in the Canadian Province of the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary (known world-wide as the Loretto/Loreto Sisters) inspired by the ground-breaking vision of our founder, Mary Ward, and united by a desire to serve God’s people across Canada. We have been present in the Hamilton Diocese since before it was founded in 1856, arriving in Brantford in 1853. Today, four of our sisters minister in the the city of Guelph.
