Celebrating 150 Years, The Diocese of Hamilton
EUCHARISTIC ADORATION
THE CELEBRATION
OF THE 150TH ANNIVERSARY
OF HAMILTON DIOCESE
1856 - 2006
Bishop Tonnos has invited all of us to intensify our love for the Eucharist through prayer, adoration and the reception of our Lord in Holy Communion during this anniversary year.
In order to facilitate days of prayer and Eucharistic Adoration in the Diocese, the Liturgy Office has prepared an EUCHARISTIC ADORATION resource booklet which contains the following elements:
- Opening Celebration of the Eucharist
- Midday Prayer
- Litany of the Holy Eucharist
- Prayer for Vocations to Ministry in the Church
- Prayer for Those in Need of Reconciliation with the Church
- Evening Prayer
- Closing Celebration [With Benediction]
The diocesan Anniversary Committee recommends that the people in each deanery observe a day of Eucharistic Adoration (perhaps in the oldest church in the deanery) prior to their special Deanery celebration of the Eucharist with our Bishops. The Committee further suggests that the monstrance from the Cathedral might be used for this celebration as a sign of the connection that the parish has with our Cathedral church. Finally, it has been suggested that such a day of prayer, as well as days of prayer in individual parishes, include intercessions for vocations and for those who have been lax in the practice of their Catholic faith.
The EUCHARISTIC ADORATION resource booklet is available free of charge by contacting Anne Stevens in the Liturgy Office: 905-528-7988 extension 231 or by email.
